An Unsurpassed Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT): At the heart of many of EDI’s propulsion systems is its proprietary CVT technology. This CVT is the ultimate transmission solution because it benefits from several performance and efficiency improvements not realized in other CVTs deployed in the automotive industry. Compared to all other transmissions, including automatic transmissions, it is lighter in weight, smaller in size, requires less parts, is less complex, and, therefore, less expensive to manufacture, and its peak, measured efficiency is significantly higher.

Versatile Application: EDI’s CVT technology can be applied to Parallel and Series PHEVs, pure EVs, and conventional vehicles. It scales across all vehicle sizes, classes, and configurations. Its mechanical design and technology boost efficiency, accommodating better fuel economy and range. It also allows for downsizing of the electronics, the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), and the Electric Machine, while permitting them to operate along their Ideal Operating Limits (IOL). It also extends battery charge, life, and range by decreasing battery stress.
